Roof material is heavy and difficult to handle. The best way is to dump it down a debris chute into a dump truck.
Some people might think that it would be easier to just throw the roofing material off the roof and onto the ground. However, this is not a good idea because it can damage nearby plants, soil and structures. Roofing material also has a tendency of blowing around in the wind. This causes an even bigger mess.

When disposing of roof material, it is important to know the best way to do it. There are a few ways that you can go about disposing of your roofing material, and it is important to know which one is the best for you.
How do you dump roofing material down a debris chute?
Dumping shingles down a debris chute is done in two ways: by hand or with a shovel. Use a shovel to get the shingle dumper on top of the debris chute and then push the shingle dumper over the edge of the debris chute. This will allow for an easier and quicker dump than if you were trying to do it by hand.
When you have a lot of debris to clear away, there are many ways to do it. One way is to use a dump shingle, which is a metal plate that has been bent into an U-shape at one end and welded on the other. The metal siding or gutters are dumped into the opening of this U-shape, and as you lift up on the handle, the weight of the material will cause it to slide down and out of sight.
Dump shingles down the debris chute in less than five minutes. This is a good way to get rid of old roofing materials without having to dump them off the roof.
1. Remove debris chute cover from the roof
2. Place a bundle of shingles on top of each other in the center of the debris chute
3. Lay some cardboard underneath and then push down on it with your foot until you have a pile of shingles that are about 4 ” deep
4. Take a 4” diameter PVC pipe, with a cap on one end, and push it down in the center of the shingles until you’ve impaled the bundle
5. Push down on the cap to release pressure
6. Remove debris chute cover
7. Pull out debris chute cover and clean it
8. Push in on the cap to release pressure
9. Install debris chute cover
Note: Repeat this process for each shingle on the roof.
